On Tuesday 25th March 2008, in a packed Grosvenor House on Park Lane MyAdhan.com won the 8th Muslim News Ummul Mu’minin Khadijah award for Enterprise Excellence for 2008. There were in fact three finalist from a pool of many nominations. The judges actually couldn’t decide on one winner and also gave Saaf Pure Skincare an award as well, Tahira Foods was the only other finalist.

The aim of the The Muslim News awards is to recognise and celebrate the unsung heroes and heroines of the Muslim community, who are future role models. The event was attended by VIPs and guests from the worlds of public service, business, sport and the arts as well as senior officials from all the UK political parties. In the previous years, the guests of honour have included Tony Blair, The Prince of Wales and Gordon Brown.

Readers of The Muslim News were invited to nominate individuals and organisations who have demonstrated excellence in fourteen different fields. These range from science and engineering to community development and the arts. An independent panel of seven judges reviewed the nominations and produced a shortlist that receive an award on the night.

MyAdhan.com is proud to win this award and is motivated more than ever in extending the services it provides, Inshallah.

The readership of The Muslim News selected and nominated them, and our distinguished panel of Judges reviewed, deliberated and mused over the list and here they are.The illustrious men, women, children and projects deemed to be worthy of short-listing for a Muslim News Award for Excellence. These exemplars of good practice, excellence - our future role models - will be treated to a Gala Evening in the presence of their peers and other renowned guests in March, when the finalists are announced for the [15] coveted Awards for Excellence.

MyAdhan is up against two other companies for the Enterprise award.

MyAdhan.com is leading the way in Islamic mobile downloads. It originally started off as a service providing prayer and fasting times to mobile phones in the UK. This core service has now been expanded to include mobile phone wallpapers and backgrounds, MP3 Quran and Adhan downloads, Hadith and Quranic Tafsir, a mosque locator, Islamic event information, and a service which allows you to donate to charity from your phone. The TXT2Donate service is being piloted to allow people to donate conveniently to the charity of their choice.

Saaf Pure Skincare, based in Leeds, was created in 2004, to meet the need for organic skincare that is suitable for use by Muslims. Dr Mah Hussain-Gambles used her background in formulation development to set up the world’s first organic-certified and Halal-certified skincare range manufactured in the UK. Halal in this sense means more than just alcohol and pork free: it also means natural ingredients which do not harm the environment. The range is therefore made from 100% biodegradable materials, including its recyclable packaging which is sustainably sourced. The ingredients used in its range are also Cruelty Free and Vegan; and the company policy dictates that 10% of all proceeds go to charity.

Tahira Foods Ltd was set up over fourteen years ago when Halal food was only available from local butchers. The London-based company is now recognised within the UK and European Food Industries as the number one Halal food brand. It has an extensive distribution network that extends into the European market, and is now a major supplier to the UK market, with all supermarkets stocking their range. With Muslims today having a variety of different demands, Tahira is always revising and improving its products whilst maintaining its reputation as a trusted and authentic source of Halal food.

This is really exciting, we received an email and letter yesterday stating that MyAdhan.com has been nominated for a Muslim News award for Enterprise Excellence for 2008.

This is a huge honour and Inshallah we hope that we win. The event will happen sometime in March at a venue in London so we’ll report back on how we do. If possible we’ll try to get some video footage from the evening and post it to this blog.

We managed to find some footage of last years Muslim News Awards where Ummah Foods won the last Enterprise Excellence Award.

There have been many requests from mobile phone owners for MyAdhan to begin providing services in the USA and we are pleased to announce that our Prayer and Fasting times service will Inshallah trial and launch in the USA in 2008.

With the vast array of US mobile operators across all States, MyAdhan will be working closely with its technology partners to make sure MyAdhan services are available across as many networks as possible. There has also been the challenge of how to bill message requests and will try to make the chargable messages as cheap and as competitive as possible, as we have done in the UK.

As we’ve said in the past, we’d love to launch our services to all countries but we have to make sure things are done correctly and in a controlled manner, our USA launch will Inshallah begin a roll out to other countries so watch this space.

With the new year fast approaching (2008/1429) it makes sense to reflect on our spiritual achievements for the year that has passed and evaluate where we would like to be in the coming year. No doubt, with all things considered we would all like to get closer to Allah and we can all make a sincere intention to do our best to achieve this. MyAdhan prides itself in the partners that it works with and this month we announce a new partnership with TijaraPages.com. TijaraPages is a premier online Muslim business directory with over 6500 businesses.

MyAdhan.com and TijaraPages.com have joined forces to give all TijaraPages visitors the opportunity to send business listings directly to their mobile phone via FREE SMS text messages.

How to get FREE TijaraPages Business Listings to your Mobile Phone

• Visit TijaraPages.com and view any business listing.
• Click on the “Send to Mobile” link.
• Text the word TIJARA to 60060 to register (only once) your mobile phone for the TijaraPages mobile service. Standard network sending charges apply. This service is only available in the UK.
• Enter your registered mobile number in the form to receive your business listings by SMS text message.

You only have to register your mobile phone once to get business listings when ever you need them by re-entering your mobile phone number for other business listings.

MyAdhan plans to extend this partnership to other services in the future Inshallah.

MyAdhan has been running IslamChannel’s SMS services for many months now and this Eid we thought we’d try something a little different. Rather than just allow IslamChannel viewers the ability to SMS text in their Eid greetings and messages we thought we’d try pictures and video.

You can now send pictures and video to IslamChannel directly from your mobile phone. Just create your Eid picture or video message and send it to 60300 making sure you include the word ISLAM in the subject or body of the message. Each received message costs 50p plus your standard network sending charge. This service is only available in the UK.

All pictures and video will be edited and shown during the Eid broadcast. MyAdhan will continue to work with IslamChannel in providing innovative mobile related services for viewers Inshallah.
