Saudi Telecom is set to take a strategic stake in Malaysian tycoon Ananda Krishnan’s rapidly expanding telecommunications empire.
The tie-up will give the Arab world’s largest telco exposure to two of the region’s most dynamic Muslim markets.
Saudi Telecom will inject about US$3.05 billion (S$4.7 billion) into the partnership, in a multi-tiered transaction that will give the Arab group a 25 per cent interest in Mr Ananda’s Maxis Communications, Malaysia’s main mobile phone operator.
